Your local libraries have you covered. From story times to tech workshops, these community gems offer a treasure trove of free events and resources. Growing up, my parents always said, “Readers are leaders,” and I’ve seen firsthand how libraries inspire that leadership through knowledge and connection. At Piedmont Triad Living, we’re all about uncovering free things to do, and libraries across Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties are perfect for families and lifelong learners. Let’s explore why libraries are your go-to for fun, learning, and community vibes. Scroll to the bottom for the full list of libraries in the Piedmont Triad, including address. Why Libraries Are a Family’s Best FriendLibraries aren’t just about books (though those are awesome too). They’re vibrant hubs where families can bond, kids can grow, and everyone can explore new interests without spending a dime. Most libraries in the Piedmont Triad host calendars packed with free events - think toddler story times, teen gaming nights, author talks, and even STEM workshops. Plus, they offer free Wi-Fi, computers, and access to e-books and streaming services like Libby or Hoopla. Whether you’re a parent juggling a tight budget or a retiree looking to learn a new skill, libraries deliver. When I was a kid, our school's 100-book reading program was the highlight of my schoolyear. I’d race to log my book, earn prizes, and the students that reached 100 had a pizza party. I was always one of the first to hit the magic number! That “readers are leaders” mantra stuck with me, and now I see the same magic happening for families across the Triad. Libraries level the playing field, giving everyone access to tools and opportunities to thrive. A Tour of Piedmont Triad Libraries and Their Free EventsThe Piedmont Triad is home to dozens of libraries, each with its own charm and a calendar bursting with free activities. Here’s a peek at what’s happening across the region, with links to event calendars so you can plan your visit. Most events are free, though some may require registration, so check the calendars for details. Alamance County
