Join Piedmont Environmental Alliance for the organization's Annual Meeting on November 15 at 6pm at Temple Emanuel. Mingle with community members over beer, wine and snacks, participate in a lively environmental debate with Wake Forest University's nationally ranked Wake Debate team, find out who will receive our awards for Volunteer and Green Business of the Year, and get a behind-the-scenes report on PEA's work to inspire change through environmental education. After the meeting, join TEEM for a screening of The Magical Forest, a documentary about the planet's great ecosystems and why they're vital for all life. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged. Piedmont Environmental Alliance inspires people to make choices that protect and restore the environment. Our youth education programs inspire young people in the Piedmont Triad to become the activists, environmentalists, and scientists who will solve the complex issues facing the planet. Our Earth Day Fair is THE event for celebrating sustainability and green living in the region, with great food and music, activities for adults and kids, and wonderful exhibitors and sponsors. Learn more at www.peanc.org As you know, Hurricane Matthew brought catastrophic flooding to the eastern part of our state. If you would like to help, Maple Springs United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem will be the collection point for flood buckets. These buckets will be collected from churches across our district. Buckets can be dropped off at Maple Springs at 2569 Reynolda Road (between WFU and Polo Road). Collection will take place October 24-October 31. The UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Mission Response Team in the eastern part of the state is scheduled to pick up the buckets on Monday, October 31. Please see the list for cleaning bucket materials below. If you wish to make a monetary donation you can do this in three ways:
As a reminder, 100% of all donations to UMCOR go directly to the project specified. Cleaning Bucket Materials
Place all liquid items in the bucket first. Place remaining items in the bucket, fitting them around and between the liquid items. Sponges, scouring pads, clothespins, and trash bags can be separated in order to fit all of the items in the bucket. Ensure the lid is closed securely. Important Notes
