By Jessica Thomas Lewis We ended up at J.Pepper's Southern Grille by accident. We were supposed to meet down the road at a place with a similar name. It was pouring rain and I pulled into the crowded parking lot of J.Peppers on Old Winston Road, not realizing I was at the wrong place. (After a few confused texts, we realized that I mistook J.Pepper's for J.Butler's. J.Butler's is formerly J.P. Looney's. Read my review of J.P. Looney's here.) I say all this because you want to be sure you are at J.Pepper's. It is easy to find just beyond the Papa John's on the left on Old Winston Road in Kernersville. You will be glad you did. Despite being a very wet Tuesday afternoon lunch, J.Pepper's was nearly full. It was quick to see the reason the place was full on a rainy Tuesday is because the food is fantastic! I ordered the Roasted Turkey Wrap with sweet potato fries. Mmmmm so good! The wrap had turkey, roasted tomatoes, apple-wood smoked bacon, swiss chees, lettuce and honey-Dijon in a tomato-basil tortilla. It was so delicious, I could taste the roasted tomatoes blended so flavorfully throughout. For over a year, I have been searching for a sweet potato fry better than those at Bolt Bistro and Bar in Raleigh. Finally, after many close but not quites, I have found the perfect sweet potato fry at J.Pepper's. Their fry is crispy with just the right crunchiness. Yummy! My friend ordered the Grilled Salmon and substituted green beans w/parmesan as his side. He complimented the salmon and the waitress agreed, saying that's what she always recommends. J. Pepper's has a full lunch and dinner with brunch served on Saturday and Sunday. They also offer Heat & Serve Family Dinners for Thanksgiving. There is a full bar, indoor and outdoor dining, and a private meeting/dining room for events. We love to support a business that strives to have strong partnerships in the community. J.Pepper's lives up to it's tagline: Local... Fresh... & Comfortable. Friendly service, fantastic food. 5 stars.
