Experience the Joy of a Moravian Lovefeast and Candlelight Service

The Piedmont Triad is a beautiful region in North Carolina full of vibrant culture and traditions. One of the most popular traditions is the lovefeast, a celebration that takes place every Christmas season.

Lovefeasts are a tradition of the Moravian Church, which was founded in the Piedmont Triad in 1753. The celebration is held each year to honor the birth of Jesus. During the lovefeast, participants come together and share lovefeast buns and coffee or tea. Afterward, there is a candlelight service that includes singing and prayers. It is a truly special experience that celebrates the meaning of the holiday season.

The special candlelight lovefeast includes hymns, scripture readings, prayers, and a sermon. Lovefeasts are open to everyone and are a great way to experience the beauty and history of the Moravian Church.  The Piedmont Triad Living calendar includes full details for the local services.
This year, there are lovefeast services in Bethania, Lewisville, High Point, and Winston-Salem, NC.

In High Point, NC Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church is hosting its 49th Annual Lovefeast!

Winston-Salem’s lovefeast are held at the Calvary Moravian Church, Home Moravian Church, and Olivet Moravian Church. This is a great opportunity to experience the Moravian Church in its true form.

In Bethania, the lovefeast will be held at Bethania Moravian Church, and in Lewisville the lovefeast service is at Unity Moravian Church.
