Free Halloween Events Across the Triad 2020

Halloween will be a little different in 2020, for sure.

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, many neighborhoods across the Triad have chosen to ban trick-or-treating this year.  Residents across our area are being asked to have no-contact options for the kids, or not pass out candy at all.

Personally, we will be watching Beetlejuice on an outdoor projector screen in my sister's backyard with two other families.  The kids will be in costume. We'll have pizza and cupcakes and candy.  Even in my sister's backyard, we'll social distance while we watch the movie.  We usually trick-or-treat in my parent's neighborhood, but this year their HOA discouraged the tradition.  This small, outdoor gathering on Halloween night will be perfect for us. 

If you choose to go out, there are many outdoor, organized community events across the Triad.  Costume up, grab your facemask, and be sure to social distance.  Several of these events are drive thru; you don't even have to get out of your car!

Drive Thru Trunk or Treat at Gibsonville UMC

Join us for our annual Trunk or Treat event. This year it will be a drive thru event and we will have approximately 20 decorated cars and costumed people handing out social distanced candy. Sponsored by Gibsonville United Methodist Church, Gibsonville First Baptist Church and Gibsonville Police Department.

All you ghouls and goblins come dressed in your Halloween best to trunk or treat social distancing style! Cars will be set up around the parking lot for you to be driven to and get your bag filled!
Hot dogs will be for sale during the event from Gunny Smitty's Hot Dogs.
Please remain in your car during the event to ensure social distancing is followed.

Halloween Market at Winston Junction Market

Join us for this fun (socially distanced) Halloween market in Downtown Winston-Salem. The market space will be fully decorated! Vendors will be wearing costumes and handing out candy for the kiddos. Get a jump start on your trick or treating while shopping some amazing local goods! Please make sure to bring your masks and maintain social distancing.
Winston Junction Market is an innovative, open-concept indoor market located in a converted warehouse space at 901 N Trade Street in downtown Winston-Salem. Our focus is on locally handmade and produced goods. Our vendors range from makers and artisans to farmers and food and beverage producers.
Close to many breweries and entertainment, so make a day of it and visit all of our Industry Hill neighbors!

This year due to COVID-19 the firemen will be handing out treat bags to all the kids as your parents drive you through our parking lot dressed up in your favorite costumes. We will include public education on fire safety with the treat bags and lots of candy. Come and join us as we help keep a little normal to the 2020 Halloween.

Join us for our 26th Annual Downtown Trick or Treat with a twist: a drive-thru! To promote social distancing we'll be driving through the Halloween route. The roads will be closed to all other traffic in downtown. Maps of the route will be posted on our page and the website with all traffic coming through the South Main Street entrance. Trick or Treaters will need to stay in their vehicles and the downtown businesses will come to you from the sidewalk!

It is time for our highly anticipated Trunk or Treat. While 2020 has been a year and we still can't formally host an indoor Trick or Treat as the community has grown accustomed to, we are still going to give back to the community. With that said we will be hosting a Drive Thru Trick or Treat. We will still have some of the traditional decorations to give a smaller scale drive thru experience, the ghouls will be watching as you pass through, and you will be getting your candy before leaving the parking lot. We look forward to seeing you this year and really look forward to being able to greet you face to face again next year.
